Baby Briar's 11 Month Disney Milestone Shoot- So This is Love

Briar is 11 Months Old!

This is Briar's last month of babyhood and then she's a toddler. We have so many exciting things coming up for her birthday, and for the holidays. I am happily planning those, but as the dates approach it is also bittersweet. She has really come into her own since she was a tiny little newborn, and I can't wait to see her personality blossom even more in the coming years.

Here is her milestone update:

🐭She loves biting buttons
🐭She has little tantrums
🐭Briar imitates laughs
🐭She babbles her own sentences
🐭She’s hitting growth spurts making her super cranky and messing with her sleep schedule
🐭She’s trying all sorts of new foods and loving it
🐭Briar wants whatever I have, very much a mommy’s girl
🐭She’s a good listener (for the most part)
🐭She gets excited when daddy gets home from work
🐭Popcorn popping is her favorite
🐭Briar’s starting to dance
🐭She makes a scrunch face (see last pic)
🐭She got her first molars

This milestone shoot was SO fun to do! Briar is going as Cinderella for halloween, so what better month than October to debut her costume for her milestone photoshoot! Of course we had to complete it with pumpkins, perfect for the movie and for fall.

How I did the shoot:

Materials:
-Pumpkin carriage prop (I used a wheelchair costume I will be putting on her stroller for halloween)
-Cinderella dress
-Silver shoes
-Dollar tree pumpkins
-Light up blue pumpkin (I got mine from TJ Maxx)

Tutorial:
While the shoot looks pretty easy, it was a challenge for me to get the pumpkin carriage to stand up without an obvious holder. I ended up attaching the carriage to a stool covered with a navy blanket to blend in a little more. I used some tape and safety pins to secure and hold it better in place as well as to attach the wheels. I then put groups of pumpkins around, some against the inner wheel, one on the edge, and a group in front where I was planning on placing Briar. I also took a few pictures with her shoes on her, and some with her shoes off as props.

Tips photographing a baby:
-Set up while your baby is napping!
-Once they wake, feed them, change their diaper, then put on their outfit.
-Make it fun, have positive energy. Babies feed off you. If you are stressed, they will be.
-Get a binky that matches what you are photographing. If they get fussy at a certain point don't be afraid to get a few pictures of them with a binky.
-Photograph on the ground on their level, try different angles, get close ups, don't be afraid to move around.
-Use a squeaky toy and your voice to get them to look at the camera (or even play hey bear on your phone above the lens!)
-If they are rowdy or in a grabbing phase, keep their hands busy with a toy similar to the theme.

I hope this gave some inspiration for you! Let me know in the comments what you think! Will you be trying this?
